Happy New Year  Year of the Ox Chinese Year 4706 January 26, 2009 |
Club Donates Proceeds from Lion DanceGLENDALE -- On Sunday, March 1, 2009 the Whitefish Bay Kung Fu Club presented Memorial Lutheran Church with a check for $800, earmarked for their Parking Lot Fund. On Sunday, May 10, 2009 the club placed a red lei see envelope containing a check for $500 into the collection plate bringing their total contribution to the Parking Lot Fund to $1300.The Kung Fu Club has been meeting at Memorial since 2003 when they were invited by Pastor Heidi and the Church Council. Since then they have donated flowers every Chinese New Year and help set up tables and chairs for Memorial events. The club also participated in the Youth Fund-raising Spaghetti dinner in April, 2003 and donated the big Christmas tree that they put up Christmas in Bruemmer Hall. Club members have been looking for an opportunity to become more involved with the church. When it was brought to their attention that the church was in need of a new parking lot, they decided to donate all proceeds from public and private performances for the current lunar Year of the Ox, 4706.
